It's the weekend!

Today is Friday!! Which is fantastic!!!

The weekend should be full of fun, tonight I am going to the "Octals" concert, which is the all boy a cappella group at school. They are so wonderful and so cute, so I am excited. Before the concert I am going out to dinner with the "Syrens' which is the all girls a cappella group which i happen to be a part of. Very nice bonding time, i hope!

Tomorrow, we will be traveling to Baltimore to see the Baltimore aquarium and the baltimore zoo. Have you ever been there? I hear it is absoultely amazing! That is one benefit of being on the east coast, you drive an hour and a half and you get somehwere cool. I can go to philadelphia in under 2 hours, washington d.c in under 2 hours, New York in under 4. How cool!! I will have to take really cool pictures of the aquarium and the zoo while i am there.

Other than that, this weekend will be filled with work! I have a 20 page research paper due on Monday which i have some progress on, but I need to make a lot more progress. I also have a presentation due Thursday about global warming and politics in the united states. I get to learn about such interesting stuff!!

Also, sunday is the ceremony for Alpha Lambda Delta which is the honor society for first year students. I was very happy to make this society. Should be a beautiful outdoor ceremony, maybe I will take pictures of that too!!

(17 days till i can scrapbook!! woo hoo!!))

3 days, 2 hours and 14 minutes till....

The thing I have the hardest time with, is just taking this moment for what it is. I am always thinking about what comes next, counting down the days I have left to complete a project or how much weight I want to lose before summer starts. It is good to be on your toes, and set goals for yourself, but really.. sometimes you just have to let loose and realize that -
LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION!!

Sure, of course I would like to finish my project before it is due and to lose 5 pounds before summer, but even after that goal is reached, life goes on. Keeping the weight off is an every day process and doing work weather in the form of homework or a real job or parenting, it will never end.

Instead of deciding I want to lose 5 pounds, my new goal is that I want to integrate excerising into my every day life.

I also decided that instead of completing this upcoming research project right on time, my goal is to develop skills that will allow me to be a hard worker and manage my time well.

After all, the world does not end once I reach my ideal weight or turn in a project on time, there are always pop flys coming right at you.

Who are you today?

Who are you? What keeps your little wheels turning?

I am Vanessa Lynn Nesbitt, a young woman in a family with my mom and with my dad, though not both at the same time. I am a college student who is struggling to learn how to be an adult on my own, missing my careless days of silliness and youth. I am emotional and sensitive to my own problems and especially to the problems of others. I am open and loving. I am goofy and silly and serious. I am very dependent on other people, more than i am independent on myself. I am happy, I love life and love the world but sometimes have to fight to be happy. I have a big heart. I think way too much. My wheels turn because of people, not only my friends and family but people in general. I wake up every morning because i want to see a brand new day.

Now, who are you? ... I want to know...

My heart goes out...

My heart goes to the friends and families of victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. At this point, 32 studnets killed and 28 injured. I can't believe what goes through someone's head that makes them feel so inclined to shoot so many people. Especially young students with their futures ahead of them who have potential to change the world. Please send your thoughts and prayers to those who have been affected.

At this point, I ask you to love. Love your friends, love your family, love the strangers on the street and then maybe each and every person will feel loved. "So be kind to a stranger" please, I beg of you. This to me is the only way to eliminate incidences such as this.

Springtime! Or should i say, Springtime??

Well it should be springtime about now, but it is still chilly... though warmer here than it is in Minnesota!!!! That i can be grateful for!

So happy belated easter! I had a wonderful weekend at my friend Morgan's house. Her mother treated us with such hospitality and generosity. Four 19 year old girls were treated to an easter egg hunt around the house and hidden easter baskets on easter morning. What a darling woman! She really treated us so much!! ( You can see my purple easter basket)

To brighten up my room a little bit, I bought gerban daisies which are my absolute favorite type of flowers!! Now my room is a little brighter.

To brighten up my room and my spirits, I got a special delivery today!!! I recieved cookie flowers from our family friend Kathy Hurd with a little note saying "Happy Spring"

I am so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life! So even though it may not be spring outside quite yet, it is spring in my heart! Mwah!

Hope that everyone is off to a good start on their week!

Imagine all the people, living for today..... ooo ooo ooooooo.

I love the beatles, their lyrics inspire me so much. I love listening to a song and thinking how many people have listened to this song and throught different things. That is the most amazing thing about music, it has the power to do so many things. It has the power to change your mood, to make you cry, to make you happy, to think about things in a way you never have before, to bring you back to a certain place in time, to make you fall asleep, to do just about anything. Music is magic! That is what I would like to say... ARE THERE ANY SONGS THAT MOVE YOU??

Here is a playlist of songs that move me.

1. Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
2. Freddie Freeloader - Miles Davis
3. One Sweet World - Dave Matthews Band
4. Idioteque - Radio Head
5. Andalucia - Yo La Tengo
6. Beloved one - Ben Harper
7. Dream a little dream - Ella Fitzgerald
8. Dirt - Phish
9. Only living boy in New York - Simon & Garfunkel

All of these songs are so inspirational and so thoughtful. Download some of these songs if you want, or if not, listen to them for free and the apple store on itunes. You might just appreciate them!

I have a playlist of all these songs on my computer and I call the playlist "Brain Orgasm" that is a term a friend and I made up last here for that feeling you get when you are listening to a great song with the windows down in your car, driving around a lake late at night. Or the same feeling when you wake up and go for a walk outside and everything is still dewey and peaceful and quiet and it is so refreshing. The same feeling when you reach the top of a mountain, look down and see everything underneath you. You can get a "brain orgasm" even from sharing a special moment with someone important to you, or laughing for hours. This is my version of religion - beauty.

TODAY IS A DAY FOR BEAUTY!!!

Now go out and find some!!

*Love*
