Last Day Here

Man, the countdown has gone fast.. it went from one week left, last weekend, to my very last day here.

Are you ever afraid?

I am so nervous.

I know I have already been to school and so I know how everything goes, I have a wonderful group of friends to be going to and I have so many great things going on once I am there. I am just so nervous to leave home. It is scary, leaving the comfortable cradle that I have lived in for so many years. Finally, I have to suck it up, and become an adult. I am scared to wake up in a place where I have no family anywhere close, nobody who has known me for more than a year.. I am scared to not have a my moms bed only one floor above mine to go crawl into on those nights where you just can't sleep.

It is scary.

But it is a challenge that I know I will face and learn and grow from it. I know that once I get into the swing of things back at school, i will look back on this entry and laugh... no great success can come without risk. And I think going to school half way across the country was a good idea, I am experiencing a new part of the country, with new kinds of people and I am learning!

Well for now, I am going to enjoy a nice evening with my friends for a final dinner.

The past couple of days have been so wonderful with friends! I am going to miss them a alot! But I know that they are all going to experience their own new things, just as I am experiencing mine.

Here are some pictures from the past couple of days..

Have a great day!

One Week Left.

A week from today, bright and early on Wednesday morning, I will be taking off in my car with my mom and her best friend Kathy to drive to DICKINSON COLLEGE. How crazy, the summer is almost coming to a close.

I have quite mixed feelings about going back. On the one hand, I love being at home and I love the protection you feel being in a place that you have been your whole life. At the same time, I know that once I get to school I will be as happy as a bee seeing all of my long-lost friends, taking amazing courses that i will learn so much from, and just being all around busy. I am a very busy girl at school.. but I always like being busy. it is just important to slow down every once in awhile to catch your breath.

I've been doing a lot of preparation for the going back to school deal. I went on a large shopping spree at target. (Isn't target the best? I am in love with target, i've decided. I don't know why, it just makes me feel.. at home.. haha)

I also went to the Mall of America! And picked up a few things.

My biggest purchase is ..... A NEW CAMERA!!!

I am pretty happy about it! I have been taking wayyyy too many pictures ever since I got it! Especially since my other camera has been broken all summer, I haven't been able to take any good pictures. Now though, I can take as many as I want! So just watch out!

One of my first pictures on my new camera! Chelsea and I out to lunch!

Well hope you have a great day! I am off to yoga!

Love to you!

TGIF

Thank God it's friday! Although, to be honest, every day in my life is friday this summer. Haha! I work on odd days, so really, a friday doesn't mean too much!

It is like an oven outside! There is nothing really to do except for jump in the lake or in a pool and cool down. I'm not quite sure what we are up to this evening. Do you have any good ideas? I would really like to see the movie "No reservations" but no one was very interested in seeing it with me! I think maybe it would be fun just to hang out outside. We will see what comes of the night, hopefully something fun will arise!

HAPPY FRIDAY AND HAPPY SUMMER!!

A zoo of a time!

Do you like the ZOO??

Well yesterday, my dad and I went out on a date to the como zoo. Have you ever been? If you live in Minnesota, you need to go!Not only is it free!! But they have Gifraffe's, zebra's, tigers, polar bears, seals, sea lions, snow leopards, gorillas.. YOU NAME IT! Plus they have really cool gardens that you can go through. I am serious, even an adult can be entertained there.

I am really enjoying Yoga. We have gone every day now this week, 4 days in a row! Tomorrow we are going to take a break because I have to work all day. But I am really proud of Mia and I for getting out there and doing it! The hardest part is getting there, the actual exercise doesn't take that much.. but my body sure is responding from it! I am sore all over!

What's new with you?

I hope all good thigns!

Love to you!

Personality Test!

Have you ever heard of Carl Jung? Well, he was a psychiatrist who was very influential in different psychology discoveries and theories. He studied art, religion and dreams to determine more about the human psyche and personality. A lot of times, however , his work is not included in the curriculum of public shools because he had a semi-spiritual focus to him. He thought that people should go more by their spiritual side than the actual scientific process of things.

So anyway, he combined with Isable Myers Briggs to create this perosnality test that asks over 70 quick questions and then it gives you a personality type. They judge you based on four things..

Extraversion - Introversion
Sensing - Intuition
Thinking - Feeling
Judging - Perceiving

It is a really interesting personality test that I have found to be fairly reflective of my real personality. They will give you a 4 letter code that is your personality type. So for me, I am an ENFJ (etravert, intuition, feeling, judging) They describe the personality type as "teachers" which I thought fit me quite well! Haha.. other people with my same personality type include Abraham Lincoln, Oprah Winfrey, Ronald Reagan, Sean Connery and a list of many more.

You should take the test! It doesn't take that long, maybe 7 minutes... Maybe you can learn something about yourself!

If you do, tell me what you are...I'd like to know!!

P.S - so yoga went surprisingly well! It was in a warm room, so I think i drained out any ounce of sweat i thought possible. We liked it so much that we were already back at 9 30 this morning! I was looking around the room at how many fit women there were in the building and I was like.. "I gotta keep doing it" I really enjoyed it. One thing that my Yoga teacher said today is that ."You have about 12 waking hours left in the day, any of that time that you use judging people or analyze you waste so much time to set out and be kind and love." I really liked that.

Let me love today!

An Artsy Tartsy Day.

Happy Monday, everybody.

Today I am working at Artsy Tartsy!

(the artsy tartsy gang last summer)

I work all day today, 10 till 6. Have I ever told you how much i love my job? Seriously, I get to sit here and look at beautiful paper and beads. I get to constantly be inspired by all of the things all over the walls. I get to brainstorm about my next project! And! I get to talk to all of the lovely customers that come in. Really, it is a great job for me. If you scrapbook and/or live in Minnesota, you should really check out all of our stuff. We are looking a little low on goods rights now but in this coming month, we are getting a LOT of new things in! Of course, right in time for me to be leaving.. haha.. well I will get my fair share of scrapping in before then.

Later tonight, Mia and I are going to try out something we've been wanting to do for awhile. We are going to try our luck with one of the most popular new forms of exercise. Yes, that's right... Mia and I are going to go bend our bodies in ways we never thought possible in doing YOGA!

I've done yoga before, and I've always enjoyed it. Now though, we want to make a good habit of exercising most days, so why not do it together and by doing something we actually enjoy doing! I think it is important to find that. I don't want to go for a jog every day. Sure, it more be more effective but if i don't like it- than what's the point??

It should be a good day though I hope.

What are your plans for the day???

I may write more later.

Love to you!

Sunday Morning, Rain is Falling.

Hello to you!

I know, I know, I am terrible and haven't kept up with my blog. I hope you can forgive me. I didn't realize that anyone really read this blog and then recently I've been hearing "Vanessa, why haven't you updated your blog?" Well, I am glad you do read.. but please COMMENT!

So quick update on my life.

1. My Dad is back from his bike trip through europe (again check out bsbikeadventures.com to read about it)

2. I went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my friends from school and it was fabulous!!

3. My friend Ryan, whom I met in Spain came out to visit and we had a wonderful time!

4. Mike came out to visit this weekend and lived each day as if it were our last.

5. Now, I have about 3 weeks left of summer before my classes start!

6. My friend Mia is the best friend in the whole world!

So there is a quick update. I will be writing more often for the next 3 weeks, you can hold me to it!!

I hope everyone is doing well. Was anyone effected by the bridge collapse in Minneapolis? I hope that all of your families are safe and not effected physically by the collpase, but I also hope that we use the incident to reflect upon those who you love in your life. Realize that life is fragile and we must love those around us.

With that, my good friend Sam's mother is dying of cancer. I may have written about this previously but recently they have found that the severity of the illness is now unstoppable. Please add Sam's mom, Doll, to your thoughts, prayers, meditations this week. Please pray to give her and her family strength and peace through her last days with us. Doll is one of the sweetest women in the world, she always acts with kindess in her heart. So in honor of Doll this week, act with kindess in your heart. I love you, Sam and I pray that you always remember the brilliance in which your mother radiates. I pray that you use these last days, weeks with her here as a celebration of the wonderful life she is living. I am sending you strength each and every day.

Please comment with something, anything in the world.

I love you. Each and every one of you.
